Privacy

Drizzle lets you set a monthly amount and split it between independent Seattle places you love. This page explains what we collect to do that, who we share it with, and how to get it deleted. The short version: we collect what we need to run your monthly support, we never sell it, and places never see who gives what.

"Drizzle", "we" and "us" mean the people who run drizzle.fund, the Drizzle iPhone app and app.drizzle.fund. This policy covers all three.

What we collect

• Your account. When you sign in with Apple, we get an Apple account ID, your name and your email address (or Apple's private relay address, if you chose "Hide My Email").
• Your profile. A name, a profile photo if you add one, your home neighborhood, the neighborhoods you watch, and your notification choices.
• Your places. The places on your list, your monthly amount, any fixed amounts and tiers, any extra you give to support Drizzle, and a record of each month's split.
• Payments. Stripe collects and stores your card. We never see or store your full card number. We keep a Stripe customer ID and show the card's brand and last four digits so you know which card is on file.
• What you send us. Places you suggest, claims that you own a place, and reports that a place changed or closed, along with the text you write.
• Swarm, only if you connect it. When you connect your Foursquare Swarm account, we read your venue history once. We keep only Seattle places you've checked into at least twice (name, kind, address, map location, number of check-ins and the date of your last one), so we can suggest places to add. We don't keep your Foursquare login, we don't post anything, and we skip places like homes, offices, transit and parks. Disconnecting deletes everything we got from Swarm.
• If you own a place. The details you publish about it, and the Stripe account it uses to get paid. Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs for payouts; we don't store them.

What we don't collect

• We don't track your location. The app never asks for it.
• We don't use advertising trackers or sell ads, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

How we use it

• To run your monthly support: charge your card once a month and pay each place its share.
• To show you your places, your history and places you might add.
• To review suggestions, claims and reports, and to confirm that a place's owner is who they say they are before any money goes to them.
• To send the notices you've turned on, and to reach you about your account.
• To keep Drizzle working and safe, including preventing fraud and meeting legal and tax requirements.

What others can see

• Places see how many Regulars they have and their monthly total. They never see who their Regulars are or what any one person gives.
• Other Regulars see a place's count of Regulars only once it has at least three. We don't show your name, photo or list to other people.
• Drizzle's admins can see the name and email on a suggestion, claim or report, so they can follow up.

Who we share it with

Only with services that help us run Drizzle, and only what each one needs:

• Stripe, for payments and payouts.
• Apple, for Sign in with Apple and the iPhone app.
• Amazon Web Services, which hosts our servers, database and photos in the United States.
• Foursquare, when you connect Swarm, and when we search Foursquare for a place that isn't on Drizzle yet (the search words go to Foursquare, not your identity).
• Google Maps, which draws maps on place pages on the web. Apple Maps does the same in the iPhone app. Like any website, these receive your IP address when a map loads.
• OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, which turns an owner's street address into a map location.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or merger of Drizzle, in which case this policy would still apply to your information.

Cookies and storage

The web app uses one sign-in cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser also remembers a few conveniences on your device, like light or dark mode. We don't use cookies for advertising or tracking.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information while you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, photo, places and Swarm data. We keep payment records for as long as tax and financial laws require (usually up to seven years), and then delete them.

To see, correct or delete your information, email info@drizzle.fund. You can change most things yourself in the app, and remove a photo or disconnect Swarm at any time.

Security

We use encrypted connections everywhere, keep secrets encrypted, and limit who can reach your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours and will tell you if something goes wrong that affects you.

Children

Drizzle is for adults. You need to be 18 or older to use it, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
